Why do we only keep rice during our visit to Temple ?

Can't we keep other food grains or other food items in temple rather than Rice ? Can't we keep Wheat or any such food grains or something ?
Why only we keep rice during our visit to a Deraser ?
The reason behind putting rice is that rice is the only grain which does not grow back so with a bhav that we also don't have to take rebirth we keep rice
