Shri Shantidasji had been nominated as "Nagar Seth" during Mughal Empire. The huge temple of Shri Chintamani Parshwanath Bhagwan constructed by Nagar Seth was converted into a Mosque in VS 1700. News spread and entire public turned violent. Being given to knowledge the charge of temple was again given to Nagar Seth by the then mughal empiror Shahjahan. But his son, Aurangzeb destroyed that temple in his empire. Heirs of Shri Shantidas have done remarkable relief work during the draught in the year 1717. The temple of Shri Sambhavnath Bhagwan in Zaverivad area is the oldest one. Shri Sangh has erected temple of Shri Jagvallabh Parshwanath Bhagwan in around VS 1600. The moolnayak idol is very imagistic in nature. Once, people have to pay a gold coin for taking a look (darshan) of it. The temple is famous for its artistic work. Apart from the artistic temples, city has 11 Gyan Bhandar, consisting many hand written Dharm Granth (religious books), said to be Mahanidhi of Jainism. Dharm granths written by many Jain Acharyas during the reign of King Kumarpal, Mantri Shri Vastupal Tejpal, Shri Pethad Shah and others have been kept in these Gyan Bhandars. Jain leadership is still with this city. Seth Shri Anandji Kalyanji Pedhi, established by all Jain Sanghs of entire nation, was registered here in the year 1880. Karnavati became the main centre for Jains. Acharya Shri Vadidevsurishwarji visited this city during the reign of Solanki King Shri Siddhraj. Shri Shantu Mantri constructed huge temples in the city. Acharya Hemchandracharya received his primary education here. Mantri Shri Pethad Shah has established a Brihat Gyan Bhandar. Colonel Tode has described the presence of many Jain temples in this city during his commanding period. The city was destroyed or lost its identity as the days passed. As the nature repeats again and again, once again a beautiful city was established and called as Ahmedabad. Today also this city contains number of Jain temples among them the temple of Shri Sambhavnath Bhagwan at Zaverivad is the oldest and Hathi Bhai temple is the biggest with best artistic works. His wife Shrimati Harkorbai completed the remaining part of construction after the death of late Shri Hathisinghji, who laid down the foundation of this temple.
