There is a reference available that Muni Shilavijayji came here on a pilgrimage in Vikram year 1711. It is said that this is an ancient shrine in Karnataka and that at once upon a time it was a very affluent city. A reference is also available that there were 60 temples on the adjacent mountain.This temple is famous as a lake-temple of the south. Every Friday, hundreds of devotees gather here to offer prayers and to perform worship. According to them, by visiting this shrine, their every wish is fulfilled. The temple shikhar is built in an unique architectural style. This is a beautiful specimen of ancient art in the middle of sylvan surroundings and undisturbed peace. Besides this lake-temple there are two more temples nearby.
