SHRI KOJARA TIRTH

  • SHRI KOJARA TIRTH

On one of the pillars in the inner sanctum hall of the temple there was an inscription which stated that a pillar was constructed in the temple of Sri Parshwanath Bhagwan by Rana Ravsi in Vikram year 1224. During recent renovations, that inscription may have been removed somewhere else. This shrine is therefore believed to be of a period prior to 12th Vikram century. On the idol of the present Presiding Deity, no inscription whatever is found. According to traditions, the original Presiding Deity may be Sri Parshwanath Bhagwan but at sometime during several renovations, the present idol of Sri Sambhavanth Bhagwan must have been installed and ceremonially consecrated as the Presiding Deity. Even at present, the work of renovations is being carried on.From stone inscriptions it is found that Rao Rana had invincible faith and devotion in Jain religion. In Vikram year 1224 he had even participated in the work of repairs and renovations. There is no other temple here in the immediate vicinity. The style of architecture of this temple is a special one and the Lord’s idol is also very beautiful and dignified.
