SHRI NITHODA TIRTH

  • SHRI NITHODA TIRTH

The shrine is believed to be of a period before 12the Vikram century. On the seat of the Parikar, there is an inscription dated Vikram year 1200 which refers to Sri Neminath Bhagwan. IT is possible that sometime in the past age, the idol of Sri Neminath Bhagwan was removed and in its place that of Shri Parshwanath Bhagwan installed and consecrated. In this temple, there is an idol of a certain yaksha who is called Babeshvarji on which an inscription is found dated Viakshakh Sukla 2 in Vikram year 1491.This shrine is one of the panch Tirthi of Chhoti Marwad. The idol of Sri Babeshvarji installed here has been found to be working miracles. In this hands there area a water-serving pot, a trident, a thread of an Yaksha and a snake coiled around. On his feet there are sandals and on the head there is an idol of Sri Tirthankar Bhagwan. This is a temple with 52 surrounding small single room shrines and its sober architecture as well as the art displayed on the idol are worth seeing. There are no other temples here beside this one.
