SHRI JAKHODA TIRTH

  • SHRI JAKHODA TIRTH

It is said that the “Anjanshalaka” ceremony of this idol was done by the hands of Acharya Sri Mantungsurishvarji. In a composition dated 15th Vikram century by poet Megh and entitled “Tirthmala”, this shrine is amply described. On the “Oarkiar” of the idol there is an inscription dated Vikram year 1504 but this “Parikar” itself appears to be another idol and of the period later than of the Presiding Deity. This shrine is an ancient one and works miracles. Here there used to be a great problem of the scarcity of water. Besides being a rocky place by the side of the hills, there was no possibility of finding water from underneath the soil. One day the Guardian God of the Jain order here gave an indication of Sri Chandaji Koliwadawala about the spot near the temple where there was plenty of clean drinking water. According to this indication when digging was done at the spot pure, health giving, drinking water was obtained there in large quantity. Besides this both Jains and non-Jains often describe various miracles that have happened here. There is one more temple nearby, besides this temple.
