This temple is very ancient. Earlier the Presiding Deity was Sri Parshvanath Bhagwan. But after 155 years, duringrenovations the idol of Sri Shanthinath Bhagwan was sanctified, which is the main idol now.The miraculous idol of Sri Shanthinath Bhagwan is said to have been recovered from a river. The ancient main idol of Sri Parshvanath Bhagwan is also seated here.This shrine is one amongst the five teerths of Shatrunjay Maha Teerth, hence there is no doubt on its antiquity. There is no other temple other than this over here.The idols are very attractive. The various forms of 33 Pat in the Sabha Mandap of the temple are also artistic, elegant and adds to the beauty of the temple .
