It is said that Shri Ramchandraji (ruler of Ayodhya) have spent some of his Vanvaas period in these dens forest being on the way for Orchha from Ayodhya. Many magical instances have occured here viz. the pots whichever wished for were recovered from the Bavadi (well) present near the temple, the well overflowed at the time of establishment of the temple, many were cured from many diseases. The well is known as ?Patarakhan?. Many disease effected persons still visit this temple & gets cured.
