In ancient times, Nalanda and Kundalpur were suburbs of Rajgiri. Indrabhuti, Agnibhuti and Vayubhuti were among Ganadhars of Bhagawan Mahavir. They were three brothers born at this place. Nalanda was a great center Buddhist studies. There was a University, too. Bhagawan Mahavir happened to meet Goshalak here. In various ancient lists of tirths, there is a clear mention that there were many temples here. This was the birth location of three of the eleven of Gandhars of Bhagawan Mahavir. Several visits of Bhagawan Mahavir to this place and Bhagawan Mahavir’s preaching have made this place very important and distinct
