is this marriage possible or should i walk away because i can't take another trauma just because the "religion" excuse

I hear you. In Jain Dharma, the core aim of marriage is to support each other in growing towards ahimsa (non-violence), truth, kindness, and spiritual upliftment. Trauma and harm are not acceptable reasons to stay in a relationship, even if the other person cites religion as justification. The path of a Jain is to protect life, minimize hurt, and pursue inner peace.

Important points to consider from a Jain perspective:

    • Ahimsa and protection: If staying in the relationship exposes you to ongoing trauma, it breaks the principle of non-harm to yourself. Your safety and well-being come first.
    • Satya (truth) and integrity: It’s honest to acknowledge pain and to seek a situation that is truthful about your limits and needs.
    • Karma and right conduct: Enduring repeated harm can generate negative karma. It is better to choose a course of action that preserves your dignity and reduces harm.
    • Aparigraha (non-possessiveness) and detachment: You deserve a relationship where love, respect, and mutual growth are present, not control or fear.
    • Respect for dharma: If the other person uses religion to justify abuse or to press you into accepting harm, that is not aligned with the spiritual ethic of Jainism.

Practical steps you can take (in a calm and safe way):

    • Prioritize safety: If you are in immediate danger, seek local help or contact the authorities. Your safety is the first concern.
    • Assess the pattern: Is the trauma ongoing and escalating, or was it a one-time event? Are there efforts to seek help or change behavior?
    • Set clear boundaries: Decide what you will not tolerate (verbal abuse, coercion, violence, humiliation) and communicate these boundaries firmly and without aggression.
    • Seek support: Reach out to trusted family, a Jain spiritual guide you trust, or a professional counselor who respects your beliefs. A neutral, compassionate perspective can help you see options clearly.
    • Consider all options: Prayerful reflection, consultation with a respected Jain teacher or community elder, and practical planning (finances, housing, support networks) can clarify whether continuing the marriage is wise or if separation is the healthier path.
    • Remember the goal: Any decision should aim to reduce harm, protect your dignity, and allow you to move toward peace and healthier spiritual progress.

If you choose to seek separation or a temporary separation, do so with care and a plan, and ensure you have support in place. In Jain practice, choosing a path that reduces harm to yourself and others is consistent with living a truthful, compassionate life.

If you’d like, tell me a bit more about the situation (without disclosing anything you’re not comfortable sharing), and I can offer more specific, Jain-aligned guidance on how to approach the conversation or plan next steps.
