11th day of paryushan
There is no fixed “11th day” in Paryushan in Jain tradition. Paryushan Parva is observed as:
- Śvetāmbara: eight days
- Digambar a: ten days
The most important day is Samvatsari, the Day of Forgiveness, when Jains perform Samvatsari Pratikraman and seek forgiveness with the phrase “Michami Dukkadam.”
Key practices during Paryushan (both traditions) include:
- Amāri Pravartan (spreading non-violence)
- Attham Tap (simple fasting)
- Chaitya Paripati (temple visits and prayers)
- Kshamāpanā (asking forgiveness from others)
- Pratikraman (repenting and renewing vows) and Samayika (meditation)
If someone mentions an “11th day,” it may refer to a different calendar or to a Hindu observance like Maun Ekadashi, which is not part of Jain Paryushan.
