According to Jain tradition and scriptures, Lord Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara, spent his life primarily in the regions of present-day Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Bengal, and parts of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat in North and Central India. There is no mention in the Jain Agamas or established Jain historical texts that Lord Mahavira traveled to South India during his lifetime.

However, Jainism did spread to South India after Mahavira's nirvana, mainly through the efforts of Jain monks and teachers. The migration of Jain monks and the patronage of South Indian dynasties, such as the Chalukyas and the Rashtrakutas, played significant roles in the establishment and growth of Jainism in the South.

In summary, Lord Mahavira himself did not visit South India, but his teachings eventually reached there through his followers.
