What is jainisam
Jainisam means Jain Dharma, the path followed by followers of Jainism. It is a spiritual tradition and way of life that teaches:
- Ahimsa (non-violence) in thought, word, and deed
- Aparigraha (non-possessiveness) and simplicity
- Anekantavada (many-sided truth) and Syadvada (truth is contextual and partial)
- Self-discipline, ethical conduct, and meditation aimed at freeing the soul (jiva) from karmic bondage
- Worship of the Tirthankaras (enlightened teachers) and living a life of right faith, right knowledge, and right conduct
Jainism emphasizes that every living being has a soul capable of infinite value, and the goal is liberation (moksha) by purifying the soul of karmic bonds through right belief, right knowledge, and right conduct.
Note: There are two main sects within Jainism—Digambar and Shwetambar—who share core principles but have some differences in practices and interpretations. If you’d like, I can explain those differences briefly.
