What is das lakshan
Das Lakshan is a Digambara Jain festival of ten days focused on the ten supreme virtues (lakshanas) of the soul. Each day is dedicated to contemplating and practicing one virtue, with fasting, prayers, and acts of seeking forgiveness. The list of the ten virtues is: Uttam Kshama (Supreme Forgiveness), Uttam Mardava (Supreme Humility), Uttam Arjava (Supreme Straightforwardness), Uttam Shaucha (Supreme Purity/Contentment), Uttam Satya (Supreme Truthfulness), Uttam Sanyam (Supreme Self-restraint), Uttam Tap (Supreme Austerity), Uttam Tyag (Supreme Renunciation), Uttam Akinchanya (Supreme Non-possessiveness), and Uttam Brahmacharya (Supreme Celibacy). In Shvetambar tradition this is often observed as Paryushan (8 days) with Das Lakshan observed by Digambar Jains after it. ( jainknowledge.com, yja.org)
