Where is Astapad
Asthapad (Ashtapad) is traditionally said to be the sacred mount where the first Tirthankar, Rishabhanatha, attained moksha. The accepted belief is that Ashtapad is in the Himalayas, commonly identified with Mount Kailash in Tibet (near Mansarovar). However, no physical Jain temple or site there has been confirmed, so many Jain pilgrims honor this as a spiritual landmark rather than a verifiable locality. Due to its inaccessibility, replicas and symbolic sites have been established in India, such as in Hastinapur and Hatpiplya, to help devotees observe and remember the moksha site. There is also ongoing scholarly discussion about the possible original location, but no definitive location has been established. ( jainknowledge.com)
