In today's time to walk on non violence path is next to impossible then what to do ?

You're right that living strictly with Ahimsa (non-violence) in today’s world can feel very hard. In Jainism, Ahimsa is the central principle, but the path is not about perfection at once. It’s about steady, sincere progress in thought, speech, and action.

Helpful ways to practice Ahimsa in modern life

    • Start small and be honest with yourself: pick one area to improve today (for example, reducing harsh speech or avoiding harm to insects while at home).
    • Think, speak, act in three steps:
    - Thought: notice when anger, frustration, or judgment arises. Try to calm your mind with a short pause or a deep breath. - Speech: choose words that are truthful but gentle. If you must correct someone, do it without blame. - Action: avoid causing harm to living beings whenever possible. This can mean mindful eating (vegetarian or careful sourcing), careful handling of animals, and avoiding needless harm in daily chores.
    • Practice forgiveness (Kshama): when you err, acknowledge it, seek forgiveness from those you may have hurt, and resolve to do better. Forgiveness reduces violence in the heart.
    • Gentle restraint, not harsh denial: you don’t have to quit everything at once. Gradual reductions in harm—from smaller to larger acts—are more sustainable.
    • Compassion in daily life: extend kindness to people and beings you encounter, even in small ways—helping someone in need, steady, respectful communication, and avoiding demeaning behavior.
    • Mindful consumption: choose products and services that minimize harm to people and beings (cruelty-free, eco-friendly, fair-trade) and reduce waste.
    • Digital Ahimsa: avoid spreading harmful or hateful content; think before posting; be mindful of the impact of words online.
    • Corporate and social context: in work or study, aim for fairness, honesty, and non-exploitation. Stand up for what’s right, even when it’s difficult, without being aggressive.

    What to keep in mind

    • Ahimsa is the highest value, but Jainism also teaches to balance it with austerity and truth. Different traditions (Digambar, Shwetambar) may emphasize aspects of the vows differently, but the core aim remains: minimize harm and cultivate compassion.
    • Perfect non-violence is an ideal; the practice is a life-long journey. Your sincere effort, not flawless perfection, matters most.

If you’d like, tell me a daily setting where you’re finding it hard to practice Ahimsa (family, work, online life, etc.), and I can suggest concrete, small steps tailored to that situation.
