Vasupujya Swami, the 12th Tirthankar, faced typical royal-dynastic pressures before choosing renunciation. The main “problems” described in Jain tradition are:

• Pressure from his royal family to marry and to ascend the throne.
• He refused these worldly duties, choosing to renounce worldly life and become a Shraman (renunciate) instead.
• After renunciation, he undertook intense austerities, quickly attaining Kevala Jnana (omniscience) within about one month, and later Moksha at Champapuri.
