In Jainism, there are 24 Tirthankaras in each cosmic cycle. Mahavira is the 24th Tirthankara. There is no “next” Tirthankara in the present cycle; the next Tirthankara will appear only in a future cycle. Because the name of the 25th Tirthankara is not fixed in the current scriptures, traditional texts do not provide a definite future name.
