In Jainism there is no fixed calendar time from starting Marganusari to Moksha. Marganusari is the path-follower phase (the starting stage of practicing right faith, right knowledge, and right conduct). Moksha (liberation) is attained only when all karmas are shed. How long that takes depends on the soul’s own karma and the purity of its conduct and awareness.

• For some, liberation can happen in the current life, if all karmas are shed at the end of the final Gunasthana.
• For most, it happens over many lives, as the soul gradually purifies through the Gunasthanas and deliberate austerities.
• The key idea is steady progress on samyak darshan, samyak jnan, samyak charitra, and soul purification; time is not fixed or guaranteed.

Differences between Digambar and Shwetambar opinions on exact stages exist, but both traditions agree that Moksha comes only after complete eradication of karmas, not simply after a certain number of years or stages.
