    Nakoda bhagwan ki history

    11 months ago 179

Nakodaji (Nakoda Parshwanath Tirth) is a Śvetāmbara Jain pilgrimage site in Rajasthan, dedicated to Bhagwan Parshwanath (the 23rd Tirthankar) with Nakoda Bhairavji as a guardian deity.

    Key points about its history:

    • The place is linked to two ancient towns, Virampur and Nakornagar, founded by brothers Virasen and Nakorsen in the third century Vikram era. Temples for Chandraprabha and Suparshwanath were established, with Sthulibhadra Swami credited with the installation. The Mulnayak of Parshwanath at Nakodaji was later brought there from Nakornagar, giving the site its name “Nakoda.” ( jainknowledge.com)
    • In 1280 Vikram era (around 1224 CE), Alam Shah invaded the area, and many idols were hidden for protection. In the early 15th century, about 120 idols were moved from Kalidrah to Nakode, and Parshwanath’s idol was reinstalled as the main deity in 1429. The temple complex was rebuilt and expanded, and Nakoda Bhairavji’s idol was installed in 1511. ( jainknowledge.com)
    • The site is famous for the central Parshwanath idol (Mulnayak) and the guardian deity Nakoda Bhairavji, who is believed to protect the tirth and grant devotees’ wishes. The tirth hosts a famous annual festival around Parshwanath’s janma/ birthday. ( jainknowledge.com)
    • Besides Parshwanath, the complex also houses temples to Shantinath and Adishwar (the latter dating back to the 17th century), making Nakodaji a significant Jain center in the region. ( jainknowledge.com)

If you’d like, I can share a brief, simple overview in Hindi or provide a short, devotional summary of Nakodaji’s main rituals.
