    Story of 7th tirthankar

    one year ago 144

The 7th Tirthankar in Jainism is Shri Suparshvanath Bhagwan.

    Story of Suparshvanath Bhagwan:

Suparshvanath Bhagwan was born to King Pratishtha and Queen Prithvi of Varanasi (Kashi), in the Ikshvaku dynasty. His birth took place on the 12th day of the dark half of the month of Phalgun according to the Jain calendar.

From a young age, Suparshvanath showed a compassionate and spiritual nature. He was deeply inclined towards non-violence (ahimsa) and truth. As a prince, he ruled the kingdom with great justice, kindness, and wisdom, ensuring the well-being of his subjects.

After realizing the transient nature of worldly pleasures and the cycle of birth and death (samsara), Suparshvanath renounced his kingdom, wealth, and family at a suitable age. He adopted the path of asceticism, embracing complete detachment and self-discipline.

After practicing intense penance, meditation, and self-restraint, Suparshvanath attained Kevalgyan (omniscience). He then became a Tirthankar, establishing the fourfold Jain Sangha (monks, nuns, laymen, and laywomen) and guiding many souls towards liberation by preaching the eternal truths of Jainism.

Suparshvanath Bhagwan attained Moksha (liberation) on Mount Shikharji (Parasnath Hills in present-day Jharkhand, India).

    Symbols and Legacy:

    • His emblem (lanchhan): Swastika
    • Yaksha: Matanga
    • Yakshi: Syama

Jains revere Suparshvanath as a great spiritual teacher who illuminated the path of righteousness, non-violence, and self-realization. Temples dedicated to him can be found throughout India, and his life is celebrated as a model of renunciation and spiritual achievement.
