Kutchi Jains do not have a single universal “gotra” for the entire community. Like other Śvetāmbara/Jain trading communities (Oswal, Porwal, etc.), Kutchi Jains use a system of 84 gotras (chourasi/goti) as lineage identifiers. Each family or sub-group may belong to a specific gotra, often traced to ancestral or place-based origins, and these gotras are mainly used for social exogamy (marrying outside one’s own gotra).
