Mahavir swami ne upvas na parna karavnar lokonu list

    one year ago 573

Mahavir Swami, the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism, observed many fasts (upvas) during his life. On the last day of his final fast (upvas), which lasted for 3 days before his nirvana at Pawapuri, there is a tradition of mentioning the names of those who offered him food (parna) after his various fasts during his lifetime.

According to Jain tradition and scriptures, the following is a list of individuals who offered parna (breaking the fast) to Mahavir Swami after his significant upvas (fasts):

    1. Chandanbala – She is the most famous, as she offered Mahavir Swami food after his long period of fasting, which is considered a very important event in Jain history.
    2. Shresthi Shulapani
    3. King Shrenik (Bimbisar)
    4. Anathapindika
    5. Various Shravaks and Shravikas – At different times, various lay followers (householders) offered parna to Mahavir Swami after his fasts.

However, Chandanbala is the most prominently mentioned in Jain scriptures, especially for the significant 5-month and 25-day fast. She is regarded as the ideal donor (danvir) in Jain tradition.

A full list for all his fasts is not always detailed in primary Jain texts; most references highlight Chandanbala and sometimes mention a few other devotees. The intention behind documenting these names is to show the virtue of offering food to monks and the spiritual merit it brings.

If you need the names specifically as per Jain agamas or granths, the most significant and universally accepted name is Chandanbala.

    • Jain Agamas (Acharanga Sutra)
    • Kalpa Sutra
    • Jain legends and oral traditions

If you want the list as recited in Jain bhakti literature or parayan, please specify the granth or tradition (Shwetambar/Digambar), as stories and names may vary slightly.
