Which pujan to download during Diwali?
Diwali is observed in Jainism mainly as the Nirvana (Mahavira’s Moksha) day. There isn’t a single universal “Diwali pujan to download.” Practically, many Jains, especially lay followers, perform devotional activities that are suitable for Diwali, such as:
- Snatra Puja (worship of the Tirthankaras)
- Navkar Mantra recitation and stavan
- Ang Puja (praise of the Tirthankaras’ virtues)
- Pratikraman and reflection on right faith, right knowledge, and right conduct
- Optional: Ashta-Prakari Puja (the eight-fold puja), often with traditional offerings, which can be done with dry samagri if desired
If you want a structured puja procedure you can follow or download, the Ashta-Prakari Puja is a common option in many Śvetāmbara and Digambara communities, and it can be adapted to use dry ingredients as a non-violent alternative. You can read more about this practice here .
Notes:
- Digambar and Śvetāmbara traditions may have slightly different wording or emphasis, but both traditions use similar core pujas (Navkar, Snatra, Ang Puja) during festive times.
- If you’re unsure what your local sangh follows, check with your temple or community calendar for the Diwali puja schedule.
