What isy purpose
Purpose in Jain Dharma:
- The deepest aim of life is to realize the soul’s true nature and freeing it from karmic bondage, so the soul attains liberation (moksha).
How this is done (simple path):
- Ratnatraya: Right Faith (samyak darshan), Right Knowledge (samyak jnana), Right Conduct (samyak charitra).
- Live with non‑violence (ahimsa), truth, non‑stealing, celibacy or restraint, and non‑possession (aparigraha).
- Regular spiritual practices help purify the soul and reduce karma: study, meditation, reflection, and disciplined living (anuvratas for householders or mahavratas for monks).
Notes on tradition:
- The goal (moksha) is common to both Digambar and Shwetambar traditions.
- Differences concern emphasize on certain practices and how diksha (renunciation) fits into the path, but both traditions affirm moksha as the ultimate aim.
