Smoking
In Jainism, smoking is strictly discouraged and considered to be against the core principles of the religion. Jain philosophy emphasizes ahimsa (non-violence), aparigraha (non-possessiveness), and self-discipline. Smoking causes harm to one's own body and potentially to others through secondhand smoke, which violates the principle of ahimsa. Additionally, smoking involves attachment and indulgence, which goes against the teachings of aparigraha and self-restraint (samyama). Therefore, Jains are advised to abstain from smoking and any other activities that cause harm to living beings or foster attachment.
