Where is he now?
- Gautam Swami is believed to have attained Kevala Jnana (omniscience) on the night Mahavir attained nirvana. After that, he did not take on a public leadership role; instead, he remained in kevala jnana and his status is described as having achieved omniscience. The leadership of the Jain order later passed to Sudharmaswami. ( jainknowledge.com)
Notes:
- There are some differences in small details between Digambar and Śvetambar traditions, but the core idea remains that Gautam Swami was Mahavir’s chief disciple and attained omniscience, while Sudharmaswami became the next leader of the Jain order. ( jainknowledge.com)
