I am worried the 5 th phase of the descending cycle is over cause before 2025 life was actually good, in religion, in life, in academics. As 2025 started I just feel so dark, not only me but the entire world, 2025 itself has so many disastrous calamities.
I am sorry you’re feeling this heavy. In Jainism we understand time as a long, repeating cycle with ups and downs. When we are in a period of decline (the descending half of the cycle), it can feel like darkness spreading in many areas of life. But this is a natural phase, not a personal verdict on you or the world.
What helps from a Jain perspective
- Shift focus from external fortune to inner balance: Even in difficult times, the path of self-purity, non-violence, truth, and self-control can bring steadiness.
- Accept the cycle while choosing your own conduct: We may be in a phase of decline, but our individual effort to live with ahimsa (non-violence), anuvruti (small vows), and aparigraha (non-attachment) remains within our control.
- Strengthen three jewels in daily life: Faith (samayik), knowledge (jnan), and conduct (caritra). Continuous practice helps reduce inner unrest and brings clarity.
Practical steps you can take today
- Daily samayik or reflection: Set aside 15–30 minutes to quiet the mind, reflect on non-violence, truth, and right conduct.
- Pratikraman routine: Review your thoughts and actions for the day, acknowledge mistakes, seek forgiveness, and resolve to do better tomorrow.
- Practice ahimsa in action: Aim for kindness in speech and non-harming in choices, big or small—this applies to helping others, not judging, and choosing peaceful solutions.
- Simplify and detach: If life feels overwhelming, simplify one area (belongings, schedule, or digital consumption) to ease emotional load and cultivate contentment.
- Read and recite, even briefly: Engage with Jain teachings in small, steady doses. Focus on ideas like non-attachment, courage (ksanti), and self-restraint rather than external outcomes.
- Gentle self-care and community: Reach out to a trusted friend or a Jain sangh for support. Shared practice and mutual encouragement strengthen resolve.
A gentle reminder from Jain wisdom
- The cycles of time do not determine your worth or the value of your life. Your effort to live with compassion, restraint, and truth is meaningful in itself and contributes to your inner peace, regardless of the era we are in.
If you’d like, tell me which Jain practice you’re most comfortable with (for example, a short samayik routine, a simple pratikraman pattern, or reading a specific sutra). I can tailor a simple, step-by-step plan you can start today.
