Give me pachkan for smoking
Smoking is against the Jain principle of ahimsa (non-violence) and cleanliness of body and mind. There isn’t a specific Jain ritual or “pachkan” that is prescribed just for smoking in the canonical texts.
What you can do to address it in a Jain way:
- Practice sincere pratikraman (confession and reflection) focusing on the harm caused by smoking, and resolve to abstain from it in the future.
- Do samayik (period of yoga/meditation) and upvas (fasting-based practices) as a means to purify thoughts and actions.
- Repeat Micchami Dukkadam (forgiveness) to seek forgiveness from all living beings you may have harmed through smoking.
- Make a personal vow (samyak-dharma) to quit, and replace the habit with spiritually wholesome practices (e.g., meditation, study of Jain scriptures, charitable acts).
If you’d like, I can share brief, authentic Jain prayers or mantras used during pratikraman and forgivance practices, along with their meanings.
