Short answer: No. In Jainism, a shravak (a lay follower) cannot become a Tirthankar.

• Tirthankaras are the 24 enlightened beings who establish and renew the Jain dharma in a half-cycle. They are uniquely venerated as those who conquer all karmas and attain kevala jnana, followed by teaching others.
• A shravak is a lay soul who follows the path of ahimsa, truth, and penance but does not renounce the world to become a Tirthankar.
• In the present half-cycle, the 24 Tirthankaras include Mahavira as the 24th. The next half-cycle (the next “Chovisi”) would begin with a new set of Tirthankaras centuries later; it would not be Anand Shravak becoming a Tirthankar.

So while a devoted shravak can attain liberation (moksha) or enlightenment in their own right, becoming a Tirthankar is reserved for those rare souls who are born as a Tirthankar in the cycle.
