how to protect from evil eye

    10 months ago 127

In Jainism, there isn’t a fixed ritual of “protecting from the evil eye” like in some other traditions. Protection is seen more as inner purification and right conduct. Here are Jain-centered ways to protect your peace and harmony:

    • Cultivate equanimity (samata): keep a steady mind in success or failure, praise or criticism. This reduces the impact of envy or negative gaze.
    • Practice ahimsa (non-violence) and truth (satya): living with restraint and integrity strengthens inner resilience.
    • Detach from ego and vanity: modesty in appearance, possessions, and status prevents inviting envy.
    • Purify the mind through regular spiritual practice: daily reflection, atonement (pratikraman), forgiveness, and gratitude help shield the mind from negativity.
    • Keep good company (satsang) and study Jain scriptures: learning about virtuous conduct and the lives of Tirthankaras inspires protective inner habits.
    • Discipline the senses and embrace self-control: simple living, fasting when needed, and mindful eating reduce restlessness that can attract negative thoughts.
    • Engage in positive rituals for inner upliftment: prayers or meditation focused on peace, protection of all beings, and auspicious qualities (like compassion, humility, and self-restraint) reinforce protective mental boundaries.
    • Practical daily reminders: start the day with a calm, honest intention; end the day by noting two virtuous actions you did and two you will improve.

If you’re feeling persistently troubled by negative energy or fear, consider speaking with a knowledgeable Jain teacher or elder who can guide you on appropriate pratyakhyana (discipline) or vrat (vow) practices suitable for your temperament and situation.
