Can dry fruits be eaten during Chaturmas?
In Jain practice, Chaturmas is a period of intensified vows and mindful eating. There isn’t a universal, single ban on dry fruits across all communities.
- For most lay Jains, dry fruits (like almonds, pistachios, cashews) are commonly considered acceptable during Chaturmas, as they do not involve roots or fresh greens.
- Some stricter practitioners or certain local traditions may choose to limit or avoid certain snacks or processed foods, or to follow a more austere vrata during this period.
If you follow a specific tradition (Digambar or Swetambar) or have a local guru, check their guidance for exact practice during Chaturmas.
