Manibhadra veer story
Here is a simple Jain tale of Manibhadra Veer in plain terms.
- Who is Manibhadra Veer? He is a revered protector Yaksha in Jainism, often shown with six arms and an elephant as his vehicle. He is a devoted guardian who helps devotees and is fond of Shreefal (coconut) and Sukhadi (a sweet dish). His legend begins with deep devotion to the Navkar mantra and to Palitana’s sacred places.
- The rebirth story: In a previous birth, a Jain Shravak named Manekshaw lived with great faith and pursued the Navkar mantra. After his death, he was reborn as Indra Manibhadraveerdev to serve as a mighty protector for the Jain sangha.
- How he became a protector: When his guru’s disciples faced trouble from Bhairavs (spiritual obstacles), Manibhadraveer subdued them and protected the Jain community. His guru honored him by installing a pind (the body part) of Manibhadraveer in Magarwada, Gujarat, on Maha Sud Pancham, and a temple was established there.
- The three parts story: During the battle, his body was split into three parts and fell in three places:
- Visiting pilgrimage sites: Some devotees visit all three places within a single day (from sunrise to sunset) to seek blessings and protection.
