In Jainism, there are 24 Tirthankaras in each half-cycle of time (one avasarpini). Tirthankaras are perfectly enlightened beings who restore and teach the path to liberation. We are currently in the 24th Tirthankara, Mahavira, in the current half-cycle.

What happens after Mahavira? After this half-cycle ends, time starts a new half-cycle, and the sequence of Tirthankaras begins again from the first one, Rishabhanatha (Adinath). So the “next” Tirthankar after Mahavira would be Rishabhanatha in the next cycle. This cycle-of-24 pattern is a standard part of Jain cosmology and is accepted in both Digambara and Śvetāmbara traditions, though some minor details and names of intervening Tirthankaras can vary slightly between the two sects.
