Jainism classifies celestial beings (devas) into four broad categories (nikayas): Bhavanpati, Vyantar, Jyotish, and Vaimanik.

Bhavanpati Devas are the lowest order of heavenly beings, and they reside in mansions or palaces (bhavanas) beneath the earth. Within the Bhavanpati category, there are ten main classes (bhed):

1. Asurakumara
2. Nāga
3. Vidyutkumāra
4. Suparṇa
5. Agnikumāra
6. Dvīpakumāra
7. Vāyu-kumāra
8. Stanitakumāra
9. Udadhi-kumāra
10. Dik-kumāra

Each of these has its own chief and numerous attendants. Bhavanpati devas are believed to have comparatively less power and shorter lifespans than higher celestial beings.

This classification is elaborated in Jain scriptures like the Tattvartha Sutra (5.20-22) and the Jambudvipa Prajnapti.
