    whcich is jain granth

Jain granth simply means the sacred Jain scriptures. The Jain canon covers many texts, but the most important categories and some well-known works are:

    • Agamas (the core sermons and teachings of the Tirthankaras). These are the primary scriptures in many Jain traditions.
    • Siddhantas (philosophical treatises and commentaries that explain Jain doctrine and logic).
    • Key texts often studied and cited by devotees and scholars include:
    - Tattvartha Sutra (also called Moksha-sutra) – a concise, widely respected manual of Jain doctrine. - Samayasara – a foundational text on the nature of the self and conduct. - Niyamasara – a practical guide to Jain ethics and self-control. - Sutrakritanga – a canonical collection of sutras with explanations. - Uttaradhyayana Sutra – dialogues and teachings on ethics and devotion. - Kalpa-sutra (Digambara tradition’s biographies of Tirthankaras and monks) and other hagiographic and interpretative works.
    • There are differences between Digambara and Śvetāmbara canons:
    - Śvetāmbara tradition recognizes a broader corpus of Agama literature (traditionally about 45 main texts plus commentaries). - Digambara tradition has its own recognized Anga and secondary texts and does not accept all Śvetāmbara Agama texts as canonical.
    • In practice, many Jain communities revere and study a core set of sutras and bhāṣyas (commentaries) as the foundational granth, while other texts are read for more specialized study.

If you want, tell me which Jain tradition you’re asking about (Śvetāmbara or Digambara) or a particular text, and I can explain its meaning and role in that tradition.
