In Jainism, the idea is that every soul (jiva) is bound to cycle through countless lives due to karma. But this does not mean that every possible conversation or event has already happened in some past life. Here’s the core idea in simple terms:

• Karma shapes each birth. The actions, thoughts, and intentions of a person accumulate karmic bonds, which determine the circumstances of future lives.
• Time in Jain cosmology is vast and without a beginning or end, with cycles of rising and waning eras. However, just because time is vast does not mean every possible event has already occurred in the lives of any given soul.
• Each life is a unique result of the accumulated karmas up to that moment. While many possibilities exist, only those karmically caused and carried forward into the next life actually unfold.
• Liberation (moksha) is achieved by purifying the mind, right belief, right knowledge, and right conduct, so that the soul eventually frees itself from all karmic bonds. After liberation, the cycle of birth and death ends for that soul.

In short: infinite cycles of birth are possible, but that does not imply that all possible conversations or events have already happened. Each moment and each life are shaped by karma, and liberation ends the cycle altogether.
