    Vidhi for bhagwan na ekasana

    10 months ago 242

In Jainism, "bhagwan na ekasana" refers to performing ekasana (eating one meal a day, at one sitting) with special reverence to the Tirthankaras (Bhagwan). It is an act of austerity (tapa) and devotion.

Vidhi (Procedure) for Bhagwan na Ekasana:

    1. Preparation:

    - Perform daily morning rituals: snan (bath), pratikraman (if possible), and prayers. - Clean and sanctify the place where you will take the meal. - Prepare simple, non-violent (ahimsak), and satvik food, ideally cooked by yourself or by someone who observes proper Jain hygiene and rules.

    1. Intention (Sankalp):

    - Before starting the meal, make a mental or verbal sankalp (resolve) that you are performing ekasana in the name of Bhagwan (e.g., Lord Mahavir Swami or any Tirthankara). - Recite: "Aaj nu ekasana Shri _______ Bhagwan na naam thi karu chhu." (I am performing today's ekasana in the name of Lord _______.)

    1. Offering (Bhakti):

    - Before eating, recite Navkar Mantra or stavan (devotional hymn). - Offer the food mentally to Bhagwan with devotion (bhakti). - Some traditions place a small portion of food in front of the idol or image of Bhagwan for a few moments as symbolic offering.

    1. Eating:

    - Eat in silence and mindfulness, focusing on the spiritual purpose. - Take only one sitting, without standing up or stretching the meal. - Avoid distractions and maintain a meditative attitude. - Do not eat food prepared or handled during ratrikaal (after sunset) or with violence.

    1. After the Meal:

    - Conclude with prayers or recitation of Navkar Mantra. - Express gratitude to Bhagwan for the opportunity to perform this tapa.

    1. Observances:

    - Do not eat or drink anything after completing your ekasana until the next day. - Maintain humility and avoid pride in performing the austerity.

Note: The exact procedure may vary slightly based on Jain sect (Shwetambar, Digambar) and family traditions. The essence is devotion, purity, and adherence to Jain principles.

If you need a specific stavan, mantra, or further details according to a particular sect, please specify.
