    Songs on chalipalit sangh

    one year ago 267

In Jainism, a Chalipalit Sangh refers to a group of Jain monks, nuns, or lay followers who undertake a religious pilgrimage or journey together, often visiting sacred Jain tirthas (pilgrimage sites). Such journeys are undertaken with great devotion, and traditionally, the group is led by respected monks or spiritual leaders.

Songs or Bhajans Related to Chalipalit Sangh:

Jain devotional literature contains several songs (bhajans or stavans) that are sung during or about the journey of a Sangh. These songs are meant to inspire unity, devotion, and the spirit of pilgrimage. While there are no universally standardized “Chalipalit Sangh” songs across all Jain communities, the following types of songs are commonly sung:

    1. Sangh Yatra Bhajans

These praise the merits of undertaking a pilgrimage with a Sangh and invoke blessings for a safe and spiritually fruitful journey. Some popular lines or themes include:
    • “Sangh chale, shravak chale, shravika chale” (The Sangh moves, the laymen and laywomen move together.)
    • Songs asking for blessings from the Tirthankaras for a successful journey.

    2. Tirth Yatra Stavans

Devotees sing stavans glorifying the tirtha (pilgrimage site) they are visiting, such as Shatrunjaya, Sammed Shikharji, Girnar, etc. For example:
    • “Palitana ni Yatra, Bhala Bhala re Bhai...”
    • “Shatrunjay Giriraj na Darshan ne Jai Jaikaar...”

    3. Mangalacharan and Farewell Songs

Before starting the journey, devotees sing auspicious songs seeking the grace of Lord Mahavira and the Tirthankaras.

    4. Return Songs

Upon successful completion, special songs of gratitude are sung, thanking the Lord for a safe journey.

Example Chali Palit Sangh Bhajan (in Gujarati):

    > ચાલો ચાલો પલિતસંગ, તીર્થયાત્રા જઇએ > શ્રી મહાવીર ભગવાનને, વંદન કરી લિએ > સંઘ સાથે ચાલીએ, ભવ્ય યાત્રા કરીયે > પાપ તાપ દૂર કરી, મોક્ષમાર્ગ ચિંતીએ

Translation: Come, come, let’s move with the palit Sangh, let’s go on pilgrimage; Let’s bow to Lord Mahavira; with the Sangh, let’s walk the noble journey; Let’s remove sins and suffering, and contemplate the path to liberation.

    How to Find More Songs

    • Many Jain temples and organizations publish booklets of bhajans and stavans for Sangh yatras.
    • Audio recordings can be found on platforms like YouTube by searching for “Jain Sangh Yatra Bhajan” or “Chalipalit Sangh Geet”.
    • Some Jain communities have their own traditional songs for local Sanghs.

If you are organizing or joining a Chalipalit Sangh, you may request your local Jain center for their recommended songbook or playlist.

Note: These songs are traditionally sung with devotion and in a group, enhancing the communal spiritual experience during the pilgrimage.
