Vinami is a figure in Jain literature. He is described as the son of King Mahākaccha, one of the lineage of kings who took initiation with Ṛṣabha. In Hemacandra’s Triṣaṣṭiśalākāpuruṣacaritra (the epic about sixty-three illustrious persons), Vinami (along with his brother Nami) is mentioned as having traveled to distant lands and later appealing to the Tirthankara for a share of the earth. This identifies Vinami as a royal-dynastic figure within Jain mythic history.
