    What is your main philosophy

    9 months ago 60

Jain Dharma teaches a simple yet profound path focused on liberation through right conduct, knowledge, and discipline. The main ideas are:

    • Ahimsa (non-violence): Not just toward people but toward all living beings; restraint in thoughts, words, and actions.
    • Anekantavada (many‑sidedness): No single viewpoint has the complete truth; seek understanding from multiple angles.
    • Syadvada (the doctrine of conditioned predication): Truth is many‑splendored and dependent on perspective; statements are true with qualifiers like “from a certain standpoint.”
    • Aparigraha (non‑attachment): Limiting possessions and desires to reduce harm to self and others.
    • Karma and liberation: Every action creates karma; shedding karmic bonds through ethical living leads to moksha (liberation).

    Additionally, Jain practice emphasizes:

    • Satya (truth), Asteya (non‑theft), Brahmacharya (celibacy or faithful conduct), and Aparigraha as part of ethical living.
    • Dispassion and self-discipline (samvara) to quiet the mind and progress on the spiritual path.
    • The ultimate aim is kevala jnana (perfect omniscience) and liberation from the cycle of birth and death.

    Note on traditions:

    • Digambara and Śvetāmbara traditions share the core principles (ahimsa, anekantavada, karma, moksha) but have differences in monastic practice, attire, and some interpretive details of texts.

If you’d like, I can explain how these ideas are reflected in specific Jain sutras or stotras, or compare how Digambara and Śvetāmbara traditions interpret a particular teaching.
