What is maun agyaras
Maun Agyaras (Maun Ekadashi) is a Jain observance on the 11th day of the bright half (Shukla Paksha) of the Magshar month in the Jain calendar. It is a day of complete silence (maun) and fasting, with meditation and spiritual reflection. The day is tied to commemorating many Kalyanakas (auspicious life events) of Tirthankaras, and Jains practice silence and simple fasting to purify the mind and progress on the path to liberation. Different communities sometimes emphasize slightly different practices, but the core idea—silence, fasting, and inner reflection on the Tirthankaras—remains the same in Digambar and Shwetambar traditions.
