Sudarśana is spoken of as Mahavira’s elder sister in Jain tradition. According to many Śvetāmbara accounts, Sudarśana had a son named Jamali. In those same Śvetāmbara narratives, Jamali became the husband of Mahavira’s daughter Priyadarshana (also called Anojja).

In contrast, the Digambara tradition holds that Mahavira was celibate and did not marry or have children.
