In Jainism, Shreyanshkumar (often referred to as Shreyans Kumar) is a prominent figure known for his role in the story of Lord Rishabhanatha (the first Tirthankara). According to Jain scriptures, after Lord Rishabhanatha renounced his kingdom and became a monk, he observed severe vows and fasted for a long period. As a result, he wandered in search of alms (ahara), but since no one knew the proper method of offering food to a Jain monk, he continued to fast.

Shreyanshkumar was the son of King Somaprabha and a devout soul with deep faith and knowledge from his past life (purva-janma smruti). He remembered the right way to offer alms to a Tirthankara. When Lord Rishabhanatha arrived at his home, Shreyanshkumar offered him sugarcane juice with utmost reverence and according to the prescribed Jain rituals. This was the first ahara (alms) accepted by a Tirthankara in this era, and it is commemorated as "Akshaya Tritiya" in Jain tradition.

The story of Shreyanshkumar teaches the values of devotion, proper conduct, and the importance of right knowledge (samyak jnana) in Jainism.
