We don't wanr to use the soap
I understand. In Jain Dharma, cleanliness (sauca) is important and non-violence to all living beings is a core principle. If you prefer not to use soap, you can:
- Use just lukewarm water with a soft cloth or sponge to cleanse.
- Use soaps or cleansers that are vegan/animal-fat-free and mild, to minimize harm to any tiny organisms.
- Rinse thoroughly to avoid leaving residue that could irritate the skin.
- If you choose a product, pick one with simple ingredients and no animal-derived components; otherwise, water alone is perfectly acceptable for daily cleansing.
There are no strict Averaging differences between Digambar and Shwetambar on this practice; both emphasize avoiding harm where possible and maintaining personal purity.
If you’d like, I can share a short traditional guidance or mantra related to cleanliness in Jain practice.
