I am jain and I have ate egg cake mistakenly what should I do
In Jainism, eggs are generally considered non-vegetarian in both major denominations, so consuming an egg product is something to reflect on and rectify.
What you can do now
- Acknowledge the mistake with a calm, sincere intention to follow ahimsa (non-violence) more strictly in the future.
- Perform pratikraman (a mirror-like reflection and confession of faults) for the day. This includes asking forgiveness from all beings you may have harmed, and resolving to avoid such foods again.
- Say a simple vow to avoid eggs and other non-vegetarian foods from now on. Making a practical commitment helps reduce future lapses.
- If you can, engage in a small act of penance or self-discipline (for example, a short fast, or extra meditation/antar-dhyayan) as a personal vow to reinforce your intention.
- Seek guidance from your guru or a trusted Jain teacher if you’d like personalized advice or a specific vrat (vow) to observe.
Important note
- Differences between Digambar and Shwetambar traditions mainly concern many aspects of practice and interpretation, but both traditions generally treat eggs as not permissible. Your sincere effort to improve is what matters most.
If you want, tell me which Jain tradition you follow (Digambar or Shwetambar) and I can tailor the guidance and mantras (like the appropriate pratikraman phrases) to align with that tradition.
