If we have used the washroom, then after that can we learn new stotra in the same clothes
Yes, you can learn or recite a new stotra after using the washroom while wearing the same clothes, but with some important conditions.
In Jain dharma, two things are stressed:
- Sharir ki shuddhi (body cleanliness)
After passing stool or urine, you should: - Clean yourself properly - Wash hands (ideally up to elbows) - Rinse mouth well (many prefer brushing) - If possible, wash feet also
- Vastra ki shuddhi (cleanliness of clothes)
- If your clothes are not soiled, not wet, and do not have bad smell, then you may recite or learn stotra in the same clothes at home. - Best / ideal way: For any stotra, jaap, puja, pratikraman etc., it is recommended to wear separate clean, simple (preferably white) clothes kept only for dharmic work. In short:
- After toilet: first clean yourself very well.
- If clothes are clean and unstained, learning/reciting stotra is allowed.
- For higher maryada and more respect to stotra, try to keep one clean set of clothes only for dharma activities and use those whenever you can.
