Can i marry a jain girl as sc hindu?
From the Jain Dharma point of view:
- Religiously:
- Jain scriptures do not say that a Jain must only marry a Jain. - There is no strict religious ban on a Jain marrying a non‑Jain (Hindu, SC, OBC, etc.). - What matters spiritually is: - Ahimsa (no violence, pure vegetarian life, no alcohol, no addictions) - Satya (truthfulness) - Aparigraha (simple living, no show‑off) - Faithfulness and good character.
- Socially / practically:
- Many Jain families prefer a Jain spouse so that: - Food rules are easy to follow (no eggs, no meat, often no onion–garlic, etc.). - Children can grow with Jain values, temple, Paryushan/Dashlakshan, etc. - Because you are SC Hindu, some Jain families may have extra social or family reservations. - This is social and cultural, not a command of Jain scriptures.
- What you both should discuss clearly before marriage:
- Will the home be strictly vegetarian (and possibly without root vegetables)? - Will there be no alcohol, no smoking, no any addiction at home? - How will children be raised (Jain practices, festivals, prayers)? - Are you personally ready to respect and support her Jain way of life?
If both of you agree on these points, and families are convinced, then from Jain Dharma’s side there is no sin in such a marriage.
