In Jain philosophy, Jambudweep (Jambudvipa) is not a separate planet or star from Earth, so its “distance from Earth” in kilometers cannot be given.
A few key points in very simple words:
- What is Jambudweep?
- It is the central continent of the Jain universe (Madhya Loka). - Our own region, Bharat Kshetra, where we live now, is considered a part of Jambudweep.
- Is it somewhere else in space?
- No. Jambudweep is not like Mars, Moon, etc. - It is a cosmological / spiritual map, not an object you can reach by rocket or measure by modern science.
- So what about distance?
- Since, according to Jain cosmology, we are already inside Jambudweep (in Bharat Kshetra), asking for the “distance from Earth to Jambudweep” does not fit the Jain view. - Therefore, Jain scriptures do not give any Earth–Jambudweep distance in kilometers.
