In Jainism, Chandraprabhu is the eighth Tirthankara of the current Avasarpini (descending half of the time cycle). The term "Garbh" refers to the conception or incarnation story of a Tirthankara.

Garbh Kalyanak of Chandraprabhu Ji:

According to Jain tradition, Chandraprabhu Ji’s Garbh Kalyanak (auspicious event of conception) occurred when his soul descended from the Mahardhik dimension of gods (heaven) and entered the womb of Queen Lakshmana, wife of King Mahasen of Chandrapuri (also known as Varanasi or Benaras). This event was marked by great joy and celebration in the kingdom. It is said that when Queen Lakshmana conceived, she saw sixteen auspicious dreams, which indicated that a great soul (Tirthankara) would be born.

Significance:

• The Garbh Kalyanak is one of the five major Kalyanaks (auspicious events) in a Tirthankara’s life: Garbh (conception), Janma (birth), Diksha (renunciation), Kevalgyan (omniscience), and Moksha (liberation).
• Chandraprabhu Ji is symbolized by the crescent moon (Chandra), and his teachings emphasize peace, restraint, and non-possessiveness.
